One of the greatest Husky athletes was back on campus Monday morning, as Mary Whipple came by to visit the Washington women's crew team. The current USRowing coxswain is preparing to race for her third Olympic medal at the 2012 Games in London.
Throughout the fall, the focus for the Huskies has been to build speed and make technical improvements. Both crew programs demonstrated their gains in those areas in winning the Head of the Lake Regatta on Sunday.
The fall distance season is nearing its finish, but the Huskies still have one race remaining - the Head of the Lake. Both the men's and women's crew programs will compete on the 3.1 mile course beginning Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
Bob Ernst wanted to take his women's crew program to the Head of the American because of the development opportunity it presented. The Huskies also came away with positive results, and can now build towards winter training.
