Women's Basketball Completes First Day Of Conditioning
Sept. 15, 2009
SEATTLE - The Husky women's hoops team put its first day of conditioning tests in the books Tuesday, holding a 30-minute session in East Gym in Bank of America Arena.
The 2009-10 squad reported for fall training camp yesterday, going to team meetings in the morning and enjoying a team BBQ in the late afternoon. The Huskies got down to business Tuesday, taking the floor in East Gym at around 2:30pm. After sports performance coach Matt Ludwig led the team through some stretches, the Huskies split into two groups for their first timed conditioning tests of the season.
Once the timed portion of practice concluded at around 3:00pm, the team headed down to the weight room for further conditioning.
Head coach Tia Jackson seemed pleased with her veterans and freshmen alike.
"This is the best shape we've been in, coming in off of the summer," said Jackson, after practice. "From kids who weren't able to finish the runs to kids who just cruised in to the finish line. All week we're going to be testing, so the kids are approaching this with confidence. They look confident up there running."
Wednesday, the team is slated for 30 minutes of shooting practice at 2:30pm and weights at 3:15pm.
The Huskies kick off their season Nov. 5 with an exhibition against Seattle Pacific at Bank of America Arena. For ticket information, log on to GoHuskies.com or call the Husky Ticket Office at 206-543-2200.
