Sept. 15, 2000 Washington women's basketball coach June Daugherty will be inducted into the athletics hall of fame at Ohio State, where she was a standout player from 1974-78. Ceremonies for the class that includes 15 former Buckeye athletes take place Sept. 15-16 in Columbus as part of the festivities surrounding the Ohio State versus Miami (Ohio) football game. Daugherty, entering her fifth year as head coach of the Huskies, helped the Buckeyes to Big Ten championships in 1977 and 1978. At the conclusion of her senior season in 1978, she earned all-America honors and was a Wade Trophy finalist, the honor given the nation's top college basketball player. Daugherty ranks 16th on OSU's career scoring list with 1,137 points and after 22 seasons still ranks fourth in career rebounds (829). She owns the single game school record for blocked shots, with 12 against Michigan State in 1976. Daugherty has a record of 59-56 in her four-year tenure at Washington and is 182-130 in 11 seasons as a head coach. She led the Huskies to back-to-back postseason appearances in 1997 and '98.
