Plouffe, Watson To Attend Canadian National Team Tryout Friday

SEATTLE - Washington women's basketball players Andrea Plouffe and Breanne Watson will take part in an open tryout for the Canadian Women's Basketball National Team Program in Richmond, British Columbia, Friday, May 20. Plouffe and Watson will be vying for spots on either the Senior Women's National Team or the Development Women's National Team as both tryouts will be held jointly.
Plouffe, a freshman forward from Edmonton, Alberta, played for the Canadian Junior Development Team in Toronto during the summer of 2003. Watson, a sophomore forward from Richmond, B.C., also has Canadian National Team experience. Watson played with the Canadian Development National Team that competed at the FISU World University Games in Deagu, Korea, in August 2003.
At Friday's open tryouts, athletes will be assessed for possible invitation into the Senior Women's and/or Development Women's National Team Program "tryout by invitation" which will take place in early July.
This summer, the 2005 Senior Women's National Team will be taking part in a training and competitive program in preparation for the FIBA-America World Championships Qualification Tournament in a location yet to be determined in mid September, 2005.
The team selected to the 2005 Development Women's National Team will be participating in the FISU Games in Izmir, Turkey from August 10-20, 2005.
