Pimley Earns Multiple Honors at Basketball Banquet
April 11, 2000 SEATTLE - Junior team captain Jill Pimley received the Coaches' Award for all-around contribution to the team, on the court and off, at the annual Husky women's basketball awards banquet at the Don James Center on the University of Washington campus Monday night. Pimley was also named the KOMO Radio Outstanding Defensive Player as well as the 101 Club's Outstanding Scholar-Athlete. A back-up point guard who played in all 30 games this season, Pimley is a history major with a 3.89 grade point average. Junior guard Sarah Duncan was named the team's most inspirational player while sophomore center Tiffiany Diggins was tabbed most improved for the year. Junior LeAnn Sheets, who battled injuries early in the season was the Big Dawg winner, an honor that is tallied through-out the season for on-court performance. Megan Franza, who eclipsed the 1,000-point barrier this season, was named the Tyee Sports Council Community Service honoree. For the second year in a row, sophomore point guard Julia Gray earned the Lion's Club Assist trophy, after she passed out a team-best 103 assists. |
