Feb. 12, 1998 CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Jamie Redd had 26 points, nine rebounds and a game-high eight assists to lead No. 17 Washington to an 84-74 victory over Oregon State on Thursday night. Amber Hall added 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Megan Franza added 13 second-half points for the Huskies (16-5, 7-5 Pac-10), who won their fourth straight game. Malinda Lynch added 12 points. Washington led 40-32 at halftime and broke the game open early in the second half by making 7-of-8 3-point shots. All but two of the Huskies' first 23 points in the second half came on 3-pointers. Monica Watts had a career-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Beavers (6-15, 1-11), who have eight straight 13 of 14. Nicole McAllister had 20 points, and Sissel Pierce 13. Washington trailed early but broke away with an 8-0 run to lead 32-24 late in the first half. The Beavers were within 43-39 early in the second half, but Franza hit three straight 3-pointers and LeAnn Sheets added another to fuel a 12-2 run. That gave the Huskies a 55-41 lead with 14:38 to play and the Beavers never got closer than 10 points until the final 22 seconds. |
