Women's Basketball Destroys Arizona State, 62-39
Feb. 7, 1998 SEATTLE (AP) - Amber Hill had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 21 Washington used a 15-0 second-half run to beat Arizona State 62-39 Saturday night. Arizona State trailed by only three points early in the second half, but then went scoreless for nine minutes. Malinda Lynch scored four points during Washington's game-breaking run. Jamie Redd scored 12 points for Washington (15-5, 6-5 Pac-10). Stephanie Freeman scored eight points and Rameeka Lowe had 10 rebounds for Arizona State (9-11, 5-6), which shot a season-low 20 percent from the field. The Huskies, who beat No. 8 Arizona 77-73 on Thursday night, won their third straight game and avenged a one-point loss to Arizona State on Jan. 8. Michelle Tom, who scored 19 points for Arizona State in the first matchup, had only five before fouling out Saturday. |
