UW Tennis To Compete At ITA Regional Championships

BERKELEY, Calif. -- Eight members of the men's tennis team are scheduled to compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Regional Championhips in Berkeley, California beginning Saturday, Oct. 28, with play concluding Tuesday, Oct. 31. Among the players that will be competing are: No.3 seed Matt Hanlin, No. 6 seed Jeremy Berman, No.12 seed Ari Strasberg, No. 15 seed Andrej Bizjak, tNo. 17 seed Marius Lunde, Dillon Ruby, and Michael Rubin. K.J. Hippensteel of Stanford is the No. 1 seed.
"We are excited for our guys to compete in this tournament," said head coach Matt Anger. "We are looking to improve upon our performance at Fresno State in both singles and doubles."
Washington hosted this event last year for the first time in the school's history. Andy Posovac, Matt Hanlin, and Jeremy Berman each advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament. Stanford's Alex Kim claimed the singles title, defeating teammate Geoff Abrams 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
