Bizjak, Lunde Advance To Round Of 16 In Bulldog Classic
Oct. 6, 2000 FRESNO, CA - Washington men's tennis players Andrej Bizjak and Marius Lunde both advanced to the second round of the Wathen/Hancock Bulldog Classic hosted by Fresno State. Bizjak, the No. 4 seed, defeated Erin Carroll of Cal Poly 6-0, 6-2, and will face Sly Iff of Sacramento State in his next match. Lunde defeated Eric Chin of Santa Clara 7-5, 6-1. Lunde will face Brian Kent of Cal Poly in the second round. Also competing in today's action was sophomore Matt Leon who was defeated by Alex Fiedler of Pacific 6-0, 6-2. No. 6 seed Ari Strasberg, Nick Weiss, Michael Rubin, Dillon Ruby, and Jeff Eicher will also compete for the Huskies in singles matches. The second round will start at 11 a.m. Friday morning, with matches continuing into Saturday and concluding with the finals on Sunday. Doubles matches are also scheduled to begin Friday afternoon. |
