Alex Vlaski Receives ITA/John Van Nostrand Memorial Award

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - On the same day Washington senior Alex Vlaski played his final match in a Husky uniform, he was named the winner of the national ITA/John Van Nostrand Memorial Award in a ceremony held at the College Station Hilton Hotel, Wednesday evening.
The award is a stipend given to an outstanding senior who plans to pursue a career in professional tennis after graduation. UW's all-time career leader (111), has been ranked as high as No. 2 in singles during his career. He has reached at least the quarterfinals in four national tournaments and won the 2003 ITA All-American Championships. A three-time All-American, he also climbed to as high as No. 327 in the ATP Rankings, playing in professional tournaments as an amateur.
Vlaski is the first Husky to earn this national award. Former teammate Matt Hanlin was a regional nominee in 2003.
