SEATTLE - Husky senior Tobi Obenaus has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team for the second straight season. The Waidhofen, Austria native recently completed a stellar four-year career for the Huskies, and carries a 3.93 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major. Obenaus was named to the District 8 First Team, one of just ten student-athletes from the wide swath of sports covered by the "At-Large" distinction. Eligible men's sports for the At-Large Team include Fencing, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Rifle, Skiing, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo, and Wrestling. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. Obenaus was a Pac-10 All-Academic First Team selection in 2009 and 2010 with the 2011 teams yet to be announced. He was a District 8 First Team selection last year as well. On the court this season, Obenaus was second on the team with 23 singles wins, bringing his career total to 63 against just 35 defeats. He also racked up a 64-42 career record in doubles, for a combined 127 victories. Washington reached the NCAA Championships all four years of Obenaus' career. |
