Dawgs Defeat Wildcats in Men's Tennis
April 3, 1999 Tucson, AZ -- The 15th-ranked Washington men's tennis team defeated Pac-10 foe No. 75 Arizona, 6-1, today in Tucson, Ariz. The Huskies (15-6, 2-2 Pac-10) won the doubles point to begin the day and five of six singles matches. It was Washington's fourth win in the 13 all-time meetings against Arizona (7-9, 2-6). Fourth-ranked sophomore Robert Kendrick (25-6) defeated Jean-Noel LaCoste 6-3, 6-4 in No. 2 singles play while senior Eric Drew, ranked 43rd with a 14-5 record, defeated Adnan Novo 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles slot. Drew and Kendrick teamed up in No. 1 doubles to defeat Arizona's duo of Pascal Salasca-LaCoste 9-7. The win gives Drew 65 career doubles wins, good for a third-place tie on Washington's career doubles wins list. The Huskies also received victories in the No. 3, 5 and 6 slots including Andy Posavac's 23rd win of the season. Jeremy Berman upped his record to 19-6 with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Caleb Marquardt and Chuck Tille (16-4) defeated Alex Brown 6-3, 6-4 in No. 6 singles play.
