Men's Tennis Blanks St. Mary's

 

March 27, 1999

Seattle, WA -- Washington's 15th-ranked men's tennis team recorded its third straight shut out and eighth overall with a 7-0 victory over St. Mary's in the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Huskies swept the six singles matches and three double matches on the day. Washington has won eight of its last nine matches and improves its record to 14-5. St. Mary's falls to 6-9.

Senior Eric Drew, ranked 43rd nationally, led Washington defeating ex-Husky Rex Calaunan 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 singles to improve his record to 13-4. Drew also teamed up with Robert Kendrick in No. 1 doubles to defeat Eric Hom-Calaunan, 8-1. The 14th-ranked duo improved their record to 10-2. Andy Posavac won his 22nd match of the season defeating Matt Hibbard 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles play.

Washington visits the Arizona schools this weekend facing Arizona State on Friday and Arizona on Saturday.
