Huskies Defeat Oklahoma State in H.E.B. Tennis Classic

 

March 5, 1999

Corpus Cristi, Texas -- The 18th-ranked Washington men's tennis team defeated Oklahoma State in the first-round of the H.E.B. Tennis Classic held in Corpus Cristi, Texas. The Huskies claimed the doubles point and won three singles matches to to earn the needed four points to win. Washington's three other singles matches were suspended. Washington improved to 9-4 on the year and have won three straight.

Senior Eric Drew moved in to fourth-place on Washington's all-time career doubles wins list teaming up with Andy Posavac in No. 1 doubles. The two defeated Oklahoma State's Jacques du Toit and Jeremy Ewert 8-1. Drew has 59 career doubles victories.

Third-ranked Robert Kendrick (21-4) continued his winning ways in No. 2 doubles action downing Matthew Prentice 6-4, 6-2. Posavac, ranked 74th, defeated du Tiot in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0 to up his record to 18-6.

Washington meets No. 48 Southwestern Louisiana in the second-round today at 3 p.m. CST.
