Manthou Named GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete Of The Week

SEATTLE - Sophomore Max Manthou of the men's tennis team has been named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 16-22.

Manthou (Tacoma, Wash.) was the only Husky to go a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles over the weekend, as the Huskies posted 7-0 sweeps at home against 57th-ranked Idaho and 75th-ranked Pacific.

On Friday against the Vandals, Manthou rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jose Bendeck at fourth singles. He and Jeff Hawke also were 8-1 winners at third doubles.

On Sunday he posted a straight sets win over Ben Mirkin of Pacific, and moved up to No. 2 doubles with Hawke, winning 8-3 over Pacific's Alex Golding and Erik Cederwall. Manthou is now 3-0 on the year in singles and doubles and the 26th-ranked Huskies take a 3-0 record to ITA National Team Indoor Qualifying next week in Durham, N.C.
