Two Dawgs Reach The Semis At The Nordstrom Open

SEATTLE -- The Huskies continued to excel at the Nordstrom Fall Open on Sunday as two Dawgs advanced to the semis in singles. Max Manthou and Jeff Hawke both won a pair of matches to reach the last four of the tournament. Manthou first defeated teammate Rishabh Raman, 6-3, 6-2 in the Round of 16, before taking down Michael Hukwo of Portland in the quarters. Hukwo, who had been a finalist two weeks before at the PNW Intercollegiates, lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. The other semifinalist for the Huskies is Hawke who also won two matches on Sunday. Hawke defeated Frederik Strabo, 6-1, 6-3, then Hudson Barnhart, 6-0, 6-4. Viktor Farkas was also alive on Sunday, beating Spencer Furman in the Round of 16, but falling to UW Volunteer Assistant Coach Scoville Jenkins in the quarters. In doubles, Farkas and Hawke advanced to tomorrow's final after defeating Jenkins and Walter, 8-2. The Washington duo will face Hudson Barnhart and Wendell Watanabe at 1 p.m. in Monday's final. Washington will complete play on Monday at the Nordstrom Fall Open. It will be the final tournament of the Fall Season for the Huskies.
