Vlaski, Hanlin Fall From Singles Competition At National Indoors

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas -Sophomore Alex Vlaski fell in the men's singles quarterfinals, while senior Matt Hanlin lost in the second round as Washington men's tennis' run at the 2002 Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, came to an end Friday. Vlaski, the fifth-seed, picked up a win in his second round singles match, defeating Georgia's Bo Hodge 7-6(2), 6-2 earlier today. In the quarterfinals, Vlaski was upset by unseeded Jeremy Wurtzman from Ohio State in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Hanlin was unable to advance past the singles second round, falling to Kentucky's Jesse Witten 6-4, 7-6 (10). The Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, the nation's premier collegiate indoor tennis tournaments for Division I men and women, are presented by The Dallas Morning News and hosted by SMU at the Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch.
