EUGENE, Ore. - Husky freshman Emmett Egger rolled to a pair of singles wins and another win in doubles with senior Matt Stith, advancing to both finals of the PNW Intercollegiates, hosted by Oregon at the Student Tennis Center. Freshman Jeff Hawke also won a couple marathon matches to make the semis of the secondary singles flight. Egger had to face sophomore teammate Max Manthou in the quarterfinals, and he came through with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. In the semifinals he made quick work of Oregon's Robin Cambier, the fourth seed, 6-0, 6-2. Cambier had been taken to the limit in the quarters by Husky junior Marton Bots, but got the 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win. Also in the quarters in the main draw was redshirt frosh Nicholas Kamisar. He battled hard against Oregon's top player, Alex Rovello, coming up just short, 7-5, 7-5. Egger will play Rovello in Sunday's final. In the secondary singles flight, freshman Jeff Hawke exhausted himself to score a couple wins. In the round of 16, he went the distance to beat Portland's Justin Guay, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 and 7-5 in the tiebreak. He kept his tiebreak run going in the quarterfinals, as he came back to defeat Oregon's Doug Mayeda, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, showing a ton of heart. Hawke will also play in the secondary doubles flight final with Manthou, as the two beat an Oregon duo in the semis, 8-4. In the top doubles flight, Egger and Stith beat Oregon's Clissold and Sardu, 8-6, to move on to Sunday's final where they'll face yet another Oregon team, top-seeds Mullen and Cambier.
