Egger Into Round Of 16 At Regionals

MORAGA, Calif. - Sophomore Emmett Egger moved on in both singles and doubles at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships today, with the Huskies finding their most success on the doubles court at St. Mary's. Three UW doubles teams advanced into the round of 16.
Egger rolled in his singles match, topping Stanford's Trey Stroble, 6-0, 6-3. He then teamed up with sophomore Max Manthou to defeat the Sacramento State pair of Raag and Ram, 8-1.
Jeff Hawke and Viktor Farkas won two doubles matches today over teams from UC Davis and Portland, while Kyle McMorrow and Marton Bots were 9-7 winners in their one match against Clissold and Sardu of Oregon.
However, it was a tough day overall in singles, as McMorrow and Bots were both upset in the round of 32. McMorrow fell in two close sets to Stanford's Nolan Paige, 6-4, 7-6 (4) and Bots lost, 6-3, 6-4 to Alex Golding of Pacific. Hawke showed a lot of fight once again, pushing 103rd-ranked Ilya Osintsev to three sets before falling, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In consolation play, sophomore Nicholas Kamisar was an easy winner over Seif Elsherbini of St. Mary's, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Rishabh Raman also got a win, 7-6 (3), 6-4 over Kyle Koetje of Eastern Washington.
