Men's Tennis Upsets Boise State

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--The 27th-ranked Husky mens tennis team upset No. 22 Boise State, 4-2, on Friday in the Gaucho Tennis Classic in Santa Barbara for the chance to meet Southwestern Louisiana in the semifinals on Saturday. UW improves to 11-3 on the season.
Junior Eric Drew and freshman Robert Kendrick led the Husky team, which lost only two sets to the Broncos. Drew and Kendrick both won their singles matches, No. 73 Drew stopping 97th-ranked Daniel Merkert, 7-6, 6-4, and No. 62 Kendrick handling No. 88 David Dalgaard, 6-1, 7-6. The two, listed as the 45th-ranked doubles team, also teamed to topple No. 24 Shane Hurst/Merkert, 8-5.
Also winning his singles match was senior Sasha Rampazo in the fourth spot, handling Hurst, 6-0, 6-3. Andy Posavac/Rampazo combined to stop Dalgaard/Ryan Thompson, 8-5.
