Men's Tennis Blanks Cal Poly SLO, 7-0

EUGENE, Ore-Washington's 18th-ranked men's tennis team captured its second victory in its last five matches shutting out Cal Poly SLO 7-0 at Eugene, Ore. The Mustangs were Washington's first non-top five-ranked opponent in its last five matches. The Huskies swept the doubles matches and all six singles matches. Washington improves its record to 7-4 and Cal Poly SLO drops to 2-4.
Senior Eric Drew moved in to a tie for fifth-place on Washington's all-time career doubles wins list with an 8-3 win with partner Andy Posavac against the Mustangs' Sevan Zenopian and Erin Carroll. Drew has 57 career doubles wins. Drew also defeated Brandon Fallon in No. 2 singles to snap his two-match losing streak and improve his record to 9-2 in singles play.
Third-ranked Robert Kendrick defeated David Wermuth in the No. 1 singles slot 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to improve his record to 19-4. Kendrick is 5-0 when playing the No. 1 singles position this year. With a wins tonight, sophomore Jeremy Berman has won 10 of his last 12 and Marius Lunde snapped a four-match losing streak.
Washington returns to action tomorrow facing the Oregon Ducks (3-6) at 2:30 p.m.
