Jan. 23, 1998 SEATTLE - Washington's 40th-ranked men's tennis team did not drop a set and cruised to a 7-0 victory over the University of Portland (0-1) Friday night. The Huskies (1-0) hold a 30-0 edge in the all-time series versus the Pilots. Junior Eric Drew led the Husky attack with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Jeff Nunnenkamp in No. 1 singles play. Freshman Robert Kendrick, ranked 23rd in the nation, cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Joe Tostenrude in No. 2 singles upping his season record to a stellar 13-2 mark. Marius Lunde, Andy Posavac, Sasha Rampazzo and Jeremy Berman captured the No. 3 through six matches, respectively. In doubles action, the 19th-ranked tandem of Drew-Kendrick defeated Nunnenkamp-Tostenrude, 8-3, in No. 1 doubles as they improved their record to 7-1 on the season. Tomorrow is the first-ever meeting between Washington and Gonzaga. Play begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
