Richards, Finch Garner More Academic Honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Academic honors continue to roll in for UW senior soccer players Brent Richards and Jamie Finch as both were named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America team. Richards, a forward from Camas, Wash., was the only repeat selection on the first team. He boasts a 3.75 grade point average as a business major. He'd previously earned a spot on the All-West Region first team, the Capital One Academic All-America first team and was the Pac-12 Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. On the field, Richards led the 2011 Huskies with 10 goals and shared the lead with five assists. Finch, a defender from Bothell, earned a spot on the NSCAA's second team. He holds a 3.74 grade point average as a finance major and also was previously named to the All-Far West Region second team, ESPN Academic All-District VII and was a four-time first-team academic all-conference selection. The 68 honorees (first, second and third teams in both the University and College Divisions) will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held in the Kansas City Convention Center's Grand Ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
