SEATTLE - The Washington men's soccer program will host a special Martin Luther King Jr. Day coaches clinic on Monday, Jan. 18, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The clinic will feature special guest clinicians, Richard Bate, the English FA Director of Elite Coaching Courses, former English Youth National Team coach and former Technical Director of Watford FC, and David Tenney, Sounders FC Fitness Coach.

The clinic also features three field sessions and two lectures and discussions. The first lecture session, which takes place inside Bank of America Arena at 9:30 a.m., includes Bate discussing "key considerations for effective youth coaching and player development."

At 11 a.m. in either the Dempsey Indoor Facility or the East Field, depending on weather, Tenney will give the first field session on "SAQ routines to speed up your players."

After lunch, Bate will return at 1:45 for a lecture on "needs and demands for playing attacking soccer at the youth level." The clinic will then wrap up with new Husky assistant coach Brandon Prideaux running a field session on "patterns of play to improve your team attacking play" at 3 p.m. and Bate leading a session on "key tactical building blocks: one-v-one and two-v-two" at 4 p.m.

Registration and check in begins at 8:30 a.m. Advance payment for the clinic is $100 while payment at the door will be $120.
