Finch & Richards Earn All-Region Honors

SEATTLE –The National Soccer Coaches Associated of American announced the all-region and All-America teams for 2011 and UW’s Jamie Finch and Brent Richards both were named to the All-Far West Team. Richards, a senior from Camas, Wash., was named to the first-team for the first time in his career. He earned second-team honors last year. He leaves UW as one of the most decorated student-athletes in men's soccer both on and off the field. All four years at UW he led the team in goals, assists, shots, game-winning goals and points. All-time in school history he ranks ninth in goals and is tied for 10th in points. He was a two-time team captain, pre-season All-American and ranked by TopDrawerSoccer.com as one of the top MLS picks and seniors in 2011. He was a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection, a 2011 ESPN First-Team Academic All-American, a 2010 Third-Team ESPN Academic All-American, a LOWE's Senior CLASS Award candidate, 2010 NSCAA Scholar All-American and an Academic All-District selection (three times). Another senior for the Huskies from Bothell, Wash., Finch is earning his first All-Region honor. He earned Pac-12 honors earlier this year and helped the Husky back line to nine shutouts. He had five assists on the season, tying for the team lead with Hustedt and Richards. The last two seasons he was on the honorable mention team and has earned Pac-10 All-Academic First-Team honors the last three years. In 2010 he was also a NSSCAA Scholar All-West Region and first-Team Academic All-District VIII selection.
