Eight Huskies Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Men's Soccer Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Eight Washington men's soccer players were named to the 2008 Pac-10 All-Academic Team the conference office announced, Thursday, a group that included a league-high four first-team selections. Redshirt-freshman defender Jamie Finch, junior goalkeeper Rylan Hawkins, senior midfielder George John and junior midfielder Daniel Phelps were all named to the first-team, giving the Huskies the most first-team selections in the league. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephen Fung and junior defender Adam Lang were tabbed to the second-team, while junior defender Taylor Hoss and sophomore defender Brad Keller were named to the honorable mention team. Washington tied with California for the most overall selections with eight. Hawkins, who has a 3.90 grade point average and is majoring in computer engineering, earned his third-straight first-team honor. John, who has a 3.42 grade point average and is majoring in business administration, also earned his third-straight Pac-10 All-Academic honor and his second to the first-team. Phelps, a business major with a 3.66 grade point average, was selected to the first-team for the second-consecutive season, while Finch, a business major with a 3.80 grade point average, earned his first Pac-10 All-Academic honor. Fung and Lang both earned their second career league academic honor. Fung, who has a 3.36 grade point average and is majoring in communications, was a second-team selection last year as well. Lang, who has a 3.42 grade point and is an economics major, was an honorable mention honoree as a sophomore. Hoss and Keller rounded those Huskies named on the honorable mention team, Hoss for the second time and Keller for the first time in his career.
