Aug. 28, 2012
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 announced its first men's soccer player of the week for the 2012 season and it is none-other than Washington's own Dylan Tucker-Gangnes. This is Tucker-Gangnes' first-career weekly honor and Washington's 25th all-time player of the week. The Huskies hit the road for the first time this season traveling to Portland, Ore. to participate in the Portland Tournament. Washington faces Wisconsin on Friday, Aug. 31 at 4:30 p.m. PT and Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 12 p.m. PT. The senior captain, from Bainbridge Island, Wash., was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week yesterday. "It's always nice to receive an honor such as this one and I owe a lot to my teammates," said Tucker-Gangnes. Tucker-Gangnes scored two goals for UW on the weekend, one each vs. Gonzaga and Cal Poly. He scored on a header in the season-opener vs. Gonzaga off of a corner kick from freshman James Moberg. He then took a penalty kick in the Sunday game vs. Cal Poly in the second half to give UW a 2-0 lead. The Huskies head to Portland, Ore., this weekend to face Wisconsin and Cal State Bakersfield. The Soccer America men's top 25 poll was released late Monday night and the Huskies find themselves at No. 25. UW is receiving votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's Rankings for Week 1. |
