Men's Soccer Plays First Exhibition Game
Aug. 21, 2000 Seattle - The Washington men's soccer team plays the first of its two exhibition games tonight against crosstown rival Seattle Pacific at 8 p.m. at Interbay Stadium in Seattle. The match follows an exhibition charity game set for 6:30 p.m., featuring former members of the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps with proceeds going towards medical expenses for Kevin Jones, the Bellevue Christian High School boys and girls soccer coach who is now battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. The Huskies have a date change for their season opener, with the first game now set for Sat., Sept. 2 rather than Fri., Sept. 1. Washington will face Creighton in the Diadora Challenge in Omaha, Neb. for its first game. The Huskies face SW Missouri State in the second game of the challenge, Sept. 3, and that game time has been changed from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m. CST. Washington, ranked No. 12 in the NSCAA Coaches Preseason Poll, plays its first home game Sept. 14, against University of California, Irvine at Husky Soccer Stadium. |
