Huskies Host Scrimmage On Saturday
Aug. 20, 2010
SEATTLE - Just four days after reporting to fall camp, the 2010 Husky men's soccer team will hit the field for competition. The Dawgs will host Simon Fraser, an NAIA school out of Canada, in a scrimmage on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Husky Soccer Stadium. The men hit the field for practice on Wednesday with 24 student-athletes under the direction of head coach Dean Wurzberger. Wurzberger enters his 19th season at the helm of the Huskies with over 200 career victories. The first official game for the men's team is Sept. 3 in Portland, Ore., vs. Evansville. The home opener is Sept. 22 vs. Gonzaga. This scrimmage and the exhibition next Friday vs. Seattle Pacific are free to the fans. Please note that due to NAIA rules involving a scrimmage, no live stats can be provided and no results or statistics can be posted. Records and individual and team statistics are not affected by scrimmages and exhibitions. For those planning on attending the scrimmage, please note that the 520 Floating Bridge will close this weekend as crews from the state Department of Transportation make repairs. The bridge will close at 11 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. The closure extends from Montlake Boulevard in Seattle to 92nd Avenue Northeast in Bellevue. |
