Feb. 5, 2001

Seattle - Washington junior Bryn Ritchie was named to the NCAA Division I All-America second team as a defender, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced recently. He also earned second team honors as a defender on the Soccer Times.com second team.

Ritchie started every game for the Huskies in 2000, leading the team to a 14-6 overall record and clinching the first-ever men's Pac-10 Championship. Washington made its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, losing to two-time defending national champion Indiana 1-2 in the second round.

A product of South Medford High School (Medford, Ore.), Ritchie finished the season with 17 points, registering six goals and two assists. He scored the game-winning goal in a four-overtime victory against Alabama-Birmingham that put the Huskies into the second round of the tournament.

Ritchie was a First-Team All-Pac-10 honoree and a member of the First-Team Pac-10 All-Academic Team as well.

Go Huskies!
