SEATTLE –Husky center back Dylan Tucker-Gangnes (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) became the second-straight Husky taken in the MLS Super Draft as Jake Hustedt was drafted in the second round by San Jose last season.

Tucker-Gangnes was the 34th overall pick in the second round selected by the Portland Timbers. He will join Brent Richards, another former Husky, who was signed as the first ever homegrown player for the Timbers a year ago.

“Portland is the team I wanted to go to from day one,” said Tucker-Gangnes after the draft. “I could not be happier and playing with BR again is too cool.”

As a senior co-captain at the UW in 2012, Tucker-Gangnes led the Huskies back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007 and won their opening round game against Air Force. He led the team with eight goals and 16 points.

The Timbers had just the one pick in the draft and traded Mike Fucito earlier in the day to get that pick.

The 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft will be held Jan. 22. View all of the 2013 Super Draft picks here.
