Huskies Complete Preseason
Aug. 27, 2010
SEATTLE - The Husky men's soccer team hosted Seattle Pacific in the final scrimmage of the preseason at Husky Soccer Stadium Friday night. The official season opener for the Dawgs is at the Nike Portland Invitational vs. Evansville next Friday. Please note that due to scrimmage rules that affect Seattle Pacific, the result of this match along with official statistics or any stats that involve Falcon student-athlete can't be posted or recorded. Freshman Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) got the start in goal for the Huskies while senior Stephen Fung (Honolulu, Hawai'i) played the second half as the UW keeper. The lone goal for the Huskies came in the 71st minute by Dylan Tucker-Gangnes (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) from Brad Keller (Scottsdale, Ariz.) off of a corner kick. "We wanted to go out and defend better and we did," said head coach Dean Wurzberger. "SPU didn't have many chances. We lacked the finishing touch today but we dominated the game which wasn't the case against Simon Fraser last week so I was pleased overall. We need to take it one notch further against Evansville next week." The Huskies had 16 shots and four on goal, led by junior Brent Richards (Camas, Wash.) with four shots. |
