Huskies Gain Experience In Two Games Saturday
April 24, 2012
SEATTLE - The Sounders needed an extra 60-minute game so the UW men's soccer team played two games on Saturday, falling 1-0 in a closed-door friendly to the Sounders then dropping a 2-0 game at Seattle U in the afternoon.
"It was a great day of soccer for us," said head coach Jamie Clark. "Although we didn't get the results we hoped for, we certainly packed in a lot of minutes for the guys on our team. The spring is about watching and evaluating players, and we got to see a lot of each guy today. It's always a real highlight to play against the Sounders. They had all of their starters on the field today, so it was really special experience for our guys. The great majority of our players have professional ambitions, so this game is a real measuring stick for how far they still have to develop."
Since the Huskies played the Sounders this past weekend they will not meet on May 4. UW will instead play the Victoria Islanders at Peninsula Community College on May 5.
UW's next game is Saturday at 7 p.m. vs. Seattle Pacific at Husky Soccer Field. The game is free for all to attend.
