SEATTLE - Redshirt freshman Thomas Spragg (Drury, New Zealand) made his Husky debut in Saturday's spring opener, scoring the game-winning goal vs. Portland at Husky Soccer Field in a 1-0 victory.

Spragg missed 2011 due to an ankle injury and scored in the 40th minute against the Pilots. His goal was the result of playing a great through ball and working incredibly hard to get into the box.

Spring games do not count towards team or individual records or stats.

"Overall it was a pretty good game and a good to start to the spring season," said head coach Jamie Clark. "A few new faces got to play for the first time in a Husky uniform. I was happy for these guys as they all played well."

Junior goalkeeper Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) played the full 90 minutes in goal.

Next up for the men's soccer team is the annual Alumni Game on March 31 at 2 p.m. in the Dempsey Indoor.

Go Huskies!
