GOLFWEEK: Haskins Award: 10 players to watch at midseason
GOLFWORLD: Golf World's Players of the Mid-Season

SEATTLE - After sensational fall seasons, Washington golfers Cheng-Tsung Pan and Trevor Simsby have draw mid-season recognition from a pair of the most respected golf media outlets.

Pan is Golfworld's mid-season player of the year and is No. 1 on the Golfweek.com's Haskins Awards watch list in recently released stories. The sophomore 2012 third-team All-American finished no worse than third in four collegiate events and also was second at the Pan-Asian Amateur Championship. Pan won the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational, was second at the PING/Golfweek Preview and the U.S. Collegiate and finished tied for third at the Pac-12 Preview.

He amassed an impressive 271-4-10 head-to-head record on the college circuit and is 20-2-4 against the top 25 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. He finished the fall No. 1 overall in the Golfweek/Sagarin College rankings.

Simsby is the Huskies most improved player this year and arguably the most improved player in the nation. The junior from Escondido, Calif. jumped all the way to ninth in the Golfweek/Sagarin College rankings after a spectacular fall.

The highlight of the fall for Simsby was winning the Pac-12 Preview, which featured some of the best amateur players in the world, but he was steady in three other tournaments. He finished second at the Kikkor Golf/Husky Invitational, fifth at the U.S. Collegiate Championship and tied for 26th at the PING/Golfweek Preview.

Go Huskies!
