Aug. 25, 2010
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Former Husky All-American Nick Taylor's run at the U.S. Amateur came to an end Wednesday as he fell to Chan Kim, 4 and 2, in the first round of match play at Chambers Bay. Taylor, who finished in a tie for 13th place after two days of medal play, had squared the match after 10 holes, but lost by a stroke on the 11th, 12th and 15th holes before Kim, who played at Arizona State, notched a birdie three on the 16th hole to win the match. The U.S. Amateur was widely reported to be the final amateur event for Taylor, the former No. 1-ranked amateur golfer in the world. |
