Pan & Williams Move Onto Round Of 16 At U.S. Am

U.S. Amateur Championship Match Play Scoring Tree CHERRY HILLS, Colo. -- Husky All-American golfers Chris Williams and Cheng-Tsung Pan both advanced to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur Championship on Thursday. Williams earned a 5 and 3 match play win over Adam Stephenson while Pan beat Gavin Green 3 and 1 in the morning Round of 32 at Cherry Hills Country Club. Williams will take on France's Edouard Espana in the afternoon, while Pan faces Andrew Presley of LSU. For the second-straight day, neither Pan or Williams trailed in their matches. Pan never led by more than two holes until he took an insurmountable three-hole lead on No. 17. Williams only lost one hole during his dominating performance. He gained a two-hole advantage by the fifth hole and Stephenson never drew any closer than that margin. Washington is one of three schools with multiple players still alive in match play. California has Brandon Hagy and Michael Weaver, while Alabama's Bobby Wyatt and Justin Thomas advanced to the Round of 16. Wyatt and Thomas face each other this afternoon.
