Taylor To Throw Out First Pitch At Mariners Game
Aug. 4, 2010
SEATTLE -- Nick Taylor, the 2010 Ben Hogan Award winner, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Thursday night's 7:10 p.m. game between the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. The three-time All-American and two-time Pac-10 Player of the Year is tuning up for the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, which will be held Aug. 11-15. After that, Taylor will play in the U.S. Amateur from Aug. 23-29 at Tacoma's Home Course and Chambers Bay. Those two events could be Taylor's last as an amateur. Taylor left Washington as arguably the best golfer in the program's history and definitely as the most decorated player of all-time. Besides his aforementioned honors, Taylor was honored as the 2009 Royal & Ancient's Mark H. McCormack Medal winner, which recognizes the top amateur every season. He also spent a majority of 2009 and 2010 rated No. 1 on the Players World Amateur Ranking (SPWAR). After Taylor relinquishes the mound, the Mariners' Felix Hernandez will face the Rangers' Tommy Hanson. For information on tickets, visit www.SeattleMariners.com. |
