Williams Ties For 15th at Pacific Coast Amateur

EUGENE, Ore. -- Sophomore Chris Williams finished 15th on Friday to lead five Huskies competing at the 44th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at Eugene Country Club. Williams shot a 2-under 69 to finish +5 overall (75-75-70-69-289). The next highest Husky finisher was Charlie Hughes, who placed 17th at +6. He shot a final round 3-over 74. Pepperdine's Andrew Putnam of University Place, Wash. won the tournament by four strokes at 7-under 277. Oregon's Daniel Miernicki was second and Texas A&M's Cameron Peck of Olympia was third. Among other Huskies, Derek Berg tied for 29th, Darren Wallace tied for 34th and Richard Lee was 43rd. Berg shot an even par 71 to end up at +10, Wallace was 1-under on the day and finished at +11, while Lee was also -1 for the day and ended up +13 overall. |
