EUGENE -- Husky sophomore Charlie Hughes entered Thursday's third round of the 44th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship in second place, but a nine on the par-4 ninth hole and three other bogeys caused him to slip down on the leaderboard to 13th entering Friday's final round.

Hughes ended up with a 6-over-par 77 for the day and is +3 (70-69-77-216) overall for the tournament. Andrew Putnam of University Place, Wash. and the University of Pepperdine has a five stroke lead in the tournament at -6 overall.

Chris Williams was one of two Huskies to shoot an under-par round on Thursday, carding a 1-under 70. He is alone in 29th, but is pretty far out of contention at +7 overall.

Richard Lee had his best day so far, shooting a 2-under 69, but is +14 overall and tied for 49th.

UW alum Derek Berg is tied for 34th at +10 overall and Darren Wallace is tied for 42nd at +12. Berg shot a 3-over 74 and Wallace a 2-over 73 on Thursday.

The tournament concludes tomorrow at the par-71 course with 81 golfers still competing.
