Pan Tied For 22nd At Southern Am Championship
July 20, 2012
LITTLE ROCK, ARK. - All-American Cheng-Tsung Pan shot 1-over 73 in the third round of the Southern Amateur Championship and will enter Saturday's final round tied for 22nd at 1-over 217 for the tournament. Pan, who will be a sophomore at Washington this fall, had to wait until Friday morning to complete his second round. Two weather delays on Thursday and darkness left several golfers to abandon their round on the Chenal Country Club course in Little Rock, Ark., including Pan. Pan wrapped up his round with a 72 and got right back onto the course after making the 75-man cut for the third round. He carded five pars before bogeying No. 6 and double-bogeying No. 7. Pan responded with an eagle on the par-5 10th hole to get two strokes back, but gave one back with a bogey on No. 13. He birdied No. 16 to get back to 1-over for the day. Peter Williamson and Bobby Wyatt, the No. 1 ranked amateur in some circles, are tied for the lead at 7-under. Pan will tee off for the final round at 8:22 a.m. ET. OTHER HUSKY NOTES: Troy Kelly missed the cut for the Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. He shot 72-76 and was five strokes outside the cutline. |
