LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Cheng-Tsung Pan shot an even-par 72 in the first round of the Southern Amateur Championship in Little Rock, Ark. and sits tied for 22nd with 54 holes left to play.

Pan double bogeyed the second hole of his round on Wednesday, but birdied holes 15 and 16 to fight back at Chenal Country Club and salvage a 72 at the 7,326-yard course.

Keith Mitchell and Oliver Schniederjans share the lead after shooting 4-under 68.

A total of 165 competitors are playing in the 106th Southern Amateur Championship. The tournament is held over four days with 18 holes of play each day.
