LA QUINTA, Calif. - The fourth-ranked Washington men's golf team will play in its second spring tournament starting Monday at The Prestige at PGA WEST in La Quinta, Calif.

The 54-hole tournament, which will run through Wednesday, Feb. 20, features some of the top teams in the country. Besides Washington, No. 2 UCLA, No. 10 USC, No. 12. Stanford, No. 15 TCU and No. 16 Oklahoma State will participate.

Fifteen teams will compete for team and individual titles, including Stirling University which will be visiting from Scotland, the birthplace of golf. Other teams scheduled to compete in the tournament include No. 35 Texas Tech, No. 53 Arizona State and No. 57 Oregon. Co-host UC Davis is 52nd. San Diego State, Colorado and Fresno State are other teams ranked in the top 100 while Pepperdine is just outside that group.

UW Coach Matt Thurmond will bring a powerful lineup to California this week. He will be led by Hogan Award watch list members Chris Williams, Cheng-Tsung Pan and Trevor Simsby. They will be joined by senior Charlie Hughes and freshman Jonathan Sanders.

Besides the team's No. 4 ranking by Golfstat.com, the Huskies are No. 3 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Individually, Pan is ranked 4/2 (Golfstat.com/Golfweek), Simsby is 5/4 and Williams is 66/50.

Williams continues to be the world's No. 1 ranked amateur player, while Pan is No. 5.
