Howie-in-the-Hills, FL - The 11th-seeded Washington men's golf team won its consolation bracket contest with third-seeded Georgia and then fell to seventh-seeded UCLA to compete its two-days of play at the Collegiate Match Play Championships at the Mission Inn in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Huskies finished tied for 11th in the 16-team field.

In their first match Monday, Washington defeated Georgia 3-1-1 to eliminate the Bulldogs from the tournament. Erik Olson, James Lepp and Joe Panzeri all picked up wins to lead the Huskies while Zach Bixler halved his match. Alex Prugh lost 5 and 4.

The Huskies were eliminated from the consolation bracket when they fell to UCLA 3-1-1. Prugh picked up UW's lone victory by downing John Poucher 1-up. Lepp halved his match with the Bruins' Peter Campbell. UCLA will face Penn State Tuesday in the finals of the consolation bracket.

In the main draw, top-seeded Georgia Tech will face second seed Oklahoma State for the championship. Texas will face in-state rival Texas A&M in the consolation A final while Clemson will face Florida in consolation B final.

The event was Washington's final tournament of the fall. The Huskies are currently ranked 26th in the most recent Golfweek rankings.
