Men's Golf Tenth at ASU Invitational
April 18, 1998 TEMPE, Ariz. -- The University of Washington men's golf team added a second-round 296 to their first round 297 Saturday, bringing their total to 593 and placing them in tenth place after the first day of competition at the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational, held at the par 72 Karsten Course. The Huskies trail leader Oklahoma State University by fourteen strokes with two rounds remaining to be played Sunday.
Junior Rob Rashell leads the Huskies with a one-over-par 145 after 36 holes. Rashell followed a first-round 73 with an even-par 72 in the second round, currently placing him in a four-way tie for 12th, five strokes behind leaders Kevin Muncrief and Dan Arroyo, who are tied at four-under. Senior Darren Slackman faltered some in the first round, posting a 76, but regained his composure to shoot even-par later in the day, and is currently tied for 29th at 148.
The ASU Invitational concludes Sunday, with both the third and final rounds.
