Men's Golf in Third Place at U.S. Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. -- The University of Washington Men's golf team fired a 294, and is in third place after the first of three rounds at the U.S. Intercollegiate in Stanford, California. Washington is just one stroke behind tournament leaders San Francisco and Pacific who carded identical scores on the par 71 on the 6,786 yard Stanford Golf Course.

Washington's Darren Slackman led the Huskies firing a 71, tying him for fourth place overall in the tournament. Junior Rob Rachell carded a three-over 74 and sophomore Scott Kral had a 76 for the Huskies. Three players Dan Lee, Phillip Cuthbertson, and Brett Bingham all share the lead at one-under.
