Men's Golf in 6th at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- The Washington men's golf team finished the first 36-holes of the Western Intercollegiate in sixth place after carding 580 on the par 71 Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz. The Huskies were tie for second after a first round 285, but dropped after a 295 in the second round. Long Beach State leads the tournament with 567.

The Huskies are led by junior Rob Rashell who fired an even-par 71 in the first round and improved by a stroke in the second to place in a five-way tie for seventh place with 141. Brian Nosler led the Huskies in the first round after matching his season-best score of 70, but finished the second 18 holes with 78 to finish tied for 43rd. Darren Slackman carded scores of one- and two-over to finish with 245, tied for 22nd. John Moscrip is tied for 37th with 147. California's Dan Coyle and Long Beach State's Rhey Luna share the lead at four-under 138.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament continues at Pasatiempo on Tuesday.
