Huskies Take Fourth at Golf Invitational

 

March 23, 1999

EUGENE, Ore. -- The 10th-ranked Washington men's golf team carded a two-day total of 893 over 54 holes and finished in a tie for fourth place with San Diego State at the Duck Invitational. Host Oregon won the event, finishing with a score of 869 on the par 72, 6,854-yard Eugene Country Club Course.

Freshman Troy Kelly was the top finisher for the Huskies as he fired a one-over 73 on the final 18 holes to finish with a total of 219 and tie for seventh place. Oregons Adrian Burtner won a three-way playoff on the second hole with teammate Ben Crane and Arizona States Matt Jones to finish at 215 and capture medalist honors.

Scot Kral was next for the Huskies, coming in at 14th with a total of 224. Rob Rashell was 20th (226), followed by Will McCurdy (228) at 30th and Robb Bergeson (233) at 50th. Brett Bockmann was 62nd at 238. Playing as an individual, Justin Miller came in at 18th with a score of 225.

The Huskies next action will be April 4-5 at the Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State.
