Rashell Leads Men's Golfers at Duck Invitational

 

March 9, 1998

EUGENE, Ore. -- Washington State Amateur Champion Rob Rashell leads the Washington men's golf team by completing the first two rounds of competition in a tie for fifth place in the Duck Invitational. The Huskies carded a 36-hole total of 582 on the Emerald Valley Golf Course to place them fourth headed into Tuesday's final round. Oregon State leads the tournament after posting 571 over the first two rounds.

Rashell carded an even-par 72 in the first round before firing a 70 in the second, tying him with Pacific's Florian Bruhns. Sophomore Robb Bergeson, playing as an individual, posted the next-best Husky score at 145. Freshman Brian Nosler tied for 22nd, finishing with a two-over 146 after 36 holes. Oregon State's Anthony Arvidson posted two sub-70 scores to take a four stroke lead into the final round.

The tournament concludes with the final 18-holes on Tueday at hte Emrald Valley Golf Course.
