Trufant And Sark Get A Taste Of Vegas In Advance Trip
Dec. 6, 2012
LAS VEGAS - The Huskies got a bit of a preview of their trip to the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas this week as an advance party traveled to Vegas to check out the team hotel, practice and meeting facilities and go over plans in a wide array of areas.
Trufant, who found out earlier in the day that he had been named a second-team All-America by FoxSportsNext.com, was impressed with his stay, including the accommodations at Mandalay Bay, where the Dawgs will stay for the week, which culminates with a 12:30 p.m. game on Saturday, December 22.
The senior cornerback also expressed his and his teammates' appreciation for the invitation.
"It is a great opportunity to represent the team here," Trufant told the press conference attendees. "I'm really excited. It's a great opponent and it will be a great game with a lot of energy. We are just looking forward to being here."
Coach Sarkisian shared Trufant's appreciation.
"This is an awesome opportunity for us," Sarkisian said. "I know our kids are fired up, our fans are fired up. I have got a unique memory of playing at Sam Boyd Stadium in the WAC championship game when I was a player and winning that game in overtime. Sam Boyd Stadium holds a special place in my heart and we are excited to play another great game here on December 22."
Sarkisian and Trufant were joined by UW director of athletics Scott Woodward on the trip. Boise State was represented by Coach Chris Petersen, AD Mark Coyle and senior linebacker J.C. Percy.
Both contingents returned home Thursday night to return to preparations for the game. The Huskies will return to practice this weekend and, after another string of practices next weekend, depart for Las Vegas on Monday, Dec. 17. The Broncos will arrive one day later.
